..."I Am That I Am" (in the KJV Bible) is one of the many names transcribed for YHVH which was used over 6800 times in the original Hebrew Text - the "Tetragrammaton," or "the four letters".
I know little about the original Hebrew language but have been studying at websites and reference books to understand topic by topic what original meanings were before translated into the Old English (yeah!, not smart of me probably). And why search? Because I have that insatiable curiosity I have been blessed/cursed with my entire life! And hey, I'm beginning to appreciate it!
Having wondered through the years how you pronounce the word YHVH or the words that it stands for (an acronym possibly?), go ahead and laugh, it has finally been made clear to me. You don't, the very essence of Him our Creator who always was and always will be, His very existence, magnificence and authority is so unimaginable and so indescribable that there simply has never been nor will be a word with a definition in any language, that meets the essence of His Being. "I Am That I Am" was the translation used for the KJV but there is no word/name for what or who He is. When Moses on mount Sinai asked God Himself for a name to carry back to His people, God responded with "Ehyeh-Asher-Ehyeh", meaning "I Will Be" and from that translated in the Kings English became - "I Am That I Am"
The four letters YHVH in the Hebrew alphabet are Yod, Hey, Vav, Hey, simply the speaking of the Hebrew letters, not forming any word. Because their is no word for Him. Who knows maybe when we get to Heaven we'll get to know what YHVH means.
Shem Hameforash, Adonai, Malakh, HaShem, Lord, God, Father, Jehova, Yahweh, Elohim, Elah, El, and many other names are used due to language differences or being relative to the reference made to Him at the time. (There is all that noun, verb... predication...stuff, which is at the present time beyond me)
It is seemingly to me unimportant now, knowing what I do, which name is used. It is imperative that we address Yod, Hey, Vav, Hey with a manor and approach that is required by Him with faith, reverence and a belief that the Unnameable One, with the "UNUTTERABLE NAME" is the single power of our lives, our universe and our eternity.. Praise Yod, Hey, Vav, Hey! Amen

ReplyDeleteSimply, The name we use God, is our creation not His. He gave no name for Himself, He is beyond being named or titled and we have no name available to us that is great enough to be given Him. Make more sense? I'm sorry my friend.
