Give, Receive and Grow

...with a new year.  (If you are reading from an email - just to let you know, I redesigned my site, come visit)

I've had a wonderful holiday season and wanted to share some of that with you.

We all met at my oldest daughter and husbands home for our annual Thanksgiving Dinner which you have already heard from me was "fantastic".

Then we had our Grandma/Grandchildren Christmas party on Dec 19th. My 8 grandchildren this year made cookies to give away and filled a time capsule to come back to in 10 years when which, they will share their memories and enjoy!
They decided to bury the time capsule at the foot of the grape vine on Grandma Cindy's river property. A place they will all remember to come back to (OH duh!). They were actually concerned about every one of the eight, forgetting where they put it (LOL). I just giggled but thoroughly enjoy the fact that they were so involved and excited about the future and the day when they would return to open this precious box of memories 10 years from now.

They each contributed writings, drawings, plans for their futures, trinkets and photos. I contributed a story I wrote for them.

Next was Christmas at my place. It rained, it was cold, it was crowded but everyone laughed, ate and enjoyed each others company so much, I couldn't have been happier. We built a fire outside and just "hung out".

And for the New Year to begin with a bang, my son, his wife, their youngest child and I went camping. We went to the Forrest with all our stuff and just parked in the middle of no-where, exactly where I like to be. It rained us out but the time we spent was restful, joyful and magnificent. I'll say it again "I never feel closer to God than when out in nature"! How many times am I going to repeat that? I don't know. It's just so true.

Cold wet socks, wet boots, wet gloves. Ahhh! the joys of camping, right!

2010 was a wonderful year, I learned, I asked questions, I studied the Bible more, and received more from all of that. My family and I shared more time together and supported each other stronger than the year before. And that is what another new year is all about, growing each and every year stronger and closer. Interweaving our lives, our emotions and our strengths as well as our weaknesses. It's about having more time to grow individually and together, more time to share the Holy Word of God and the plan of salvation and extending that into other families beyond just our own. It's all about growth and I plan with the Grace of God, for 2011 to be a year where I recognize more opportunities for me to do just that!

I've been praying and feel like God is telling me to "move on".  This year my blog is going to be more about my studies of the Bible and my personal growth and changes in my life, changes I need to take control of.  I feel like jumping in and getting about it, if you know what I mean. In 2011 I will turn the big "60", Lord willing, and I am really looking forward to that.

Thank You Heavenly Father for Your limitless love, for giving even a worm like me so much life and goodness, thank You for Your forgiveness and the special attention You pay to just little ole me every time I need You. WOO-HOO! to another year of opportunities laid before us, thanks for Your loving and attentive "thumps on the nog'n" when I need them. Thanks for being mine. Here is to a new year Lord - and new growth. Here's to an explosion of growth in Your people, like unseen ever before - 2011, Amen

Welcome to 2011 and come grow with me.  Knowing now, because I know the Lord Jesus Christ, with tears will come laughter, with sorrow will come hope, with weakness will come strength, all by abiding with faith - with great expectations I 'welcome in' the year 2011!

1 Peter 2

1 Wherefore laying aside all malice, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, and all evil speakings,
2As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:
3If so be, ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious.

I have tasted Lord, I have tasted - Amen !

  4. What a wonderful way to end the year and you're off to a great start for the new one. Love the idea of the time capsule. I can just imagine the conversations that will take place when they open it up in 10 years.
